Internal combustion engine, especially a diesel engine, comprises at least one cylinder (1). One or more openings (25) of one or more channels (24) opening tangentially in to the cylinder are provided in the wall of each cylinder. These openings are open to the cylinder space when the piston (2) is in the bottom dead center or are otherwise covered by the piston. The channels are connected on the outside to a compressed air source. Preferred Features: The compressed air source is a supercharger (14) provided for supercharging the engine, or an air pump driven by the engine or electricity. |
