<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system that can achieve two-way communication between a printer driver and printer. <P>SOLUTION: The printing system is composed of a client PC 3 and printer that are connected to a network 1, and performs printing operation by means of the printer driver 23 equipped with the client PC 3. The system is arranged such that configuration enquiry instructions are sent by a communication path for sending print data from the printer driver 23 to the printer, and a response is sent back to the communication path that the printer has received the configuration enquiry instructions and other communication paths, thereby performing the two-way communication between the printer driver 23 and the printer. Consequently, the two-way communication can be performed between the printer driver 23 and the printer even under such conditions as only one-way communication path is set from the printer driver 23 to the printer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
