<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a work to extend an extension device. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is equipped with an apparatus main body 11 and at least one extension device, and one extension device is disposed to be freely attached to/detached from a main body side apparatus equipped with at least the apparatus main body 11. The extension device is equipped with a positioning member on a plane opposed to the main body side apparatus. The main body side apparatus is equipped with a receiving part for receiving the positioning member on a plane opposed to the extension device and a guide member 22 for guiding the positioning member to the receiving part. The apparatus main body 11 is lowered to aim at bringing the guide member 22 into contact with the positioning member. After the guide member 22 is brought into contact with the positioning member, the apparatus main body 11 is finely adjusted to fit the positioning member in the receiving part.
