NEW HYDROXYLASE, DNA ENCODING THE ENZYME AND USE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydroxylase having a new substrate specificity, especially provide a method for producing a hydroxylated compound difficult to be produced by chemical synthesis or a biochemical method using known hydroxylase.

SOLUTION: A DNA encoding a gene of a hydroxylase is isolated from actinomycetes and a microorganism is transformed with a recombinant vector containing the DNA to obtain a transformant of the microorganism. The transformant produces a hydroxylase having a new substrate specificity. A hydroxylated compound can be produced by collecting the hydroxylated compound from the cultured product of the transformant.
