摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dry a hydrous metal oxide using high-temperature CO gas which is secondarily generated when recovering reduced metal by bringing carbon into contact with a molten powdered metal oxide. <P>SOLUTION: A metal reduction furnace 10 is used for recovering reduced metal by feeding a powdered metal oxide, fuel and oxygen from a burner 12 into the furnace, melting the metal oxide in a high-temperature flame burned under oxygen support and allowing the resultant molten metal oxide to react with carbon, wherein the metal reduction furnace 10 is equipped with: a combustion device 28 which is supplied with CO gas resultant from the reducing reaction between the metal oxide and the carbon from the reduction furnace and which burns the CO gas in the presence of oxygen to convert the CO gas into CO<SB>2</SB>gas; a drying device 34 which is supplied with the resultant high-temperature CO<SB>2</SB>gas from the combustion device and the powdered metal oxide before being supplied into the metal reduction furnace and which applies contact agitation to both to carry out the drying of the metal oxide; and a separation device 50 which separates the metal oxide and waste gas supplied from the drying device and supplies the powdered metal oxide in a dried state after the separation to a required storage section 32. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p>
