PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that can correct defects when a V line defect and a pixel defect coexist in a range used in correction, which can perform proper defect correction while avoiding excessive correction. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a CCD, signal processing unit 2, image processing unit 3, V line defect storage unit 54 for storing the defect position of the V line defect, dot defect storage unit 55 for storing the defect position of a dot defect of the CCD, V line defect correcting unit 53 for correcting the V line defect on the basis of the defect position stored in the unit 55, and dot defect correcting unit 51 for correcting the dot defect on the basis of the defect position stored in the unit 55. When the V line defect and the dot defect coexist in the range used in correction, the units 53 and 51 change at least any one of the correcting methods from a correcting method in the case where the defects do not coexist.
