PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a logical disk having as much fault tolerance as possible in a disk array system in which data are redundantly stored in a plurality of disks including disks whose capacities are different. SOLUTION: An RAID group is set preferentially from a disk having a large residual capacity to reduce the deviation of the residual capacity, thereby stting the logical disk having as much fault tolerance as possible.
