PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope system allowing a user to grasp a real-time state on a slave screen and avoiding the slave screen from obstructing the observation of a still image on a master screen. SOLUTION: When starting the imaging, this electronic endoscope system allows an image pickup device 13 to capture the image of the interior of the body cavity illuminated by a white light emitted from a while light source 30 and displays a moving image of a regular image on a monitor 60 in full screen based on output regular image signals. When a still image switch 72 is pressed on, an image signal defining the still image of the regular image to be displayed on the master screen and the moving image of the regular image on the slave screen is generated and the images are displayed on the monitor 60. The slave screen is displayed for a predetermined time after pushing on the still image switch 72 and then non-displayed. A system controller 70 allows a comparator 82 to compare a histogram via a timing controller 71, receives the result signal and, when a difference is larger than a reference value, redisplays the slave screen.
