The method involves forming an annulus shaped or plate-shaped sheet metal (3), in which a radial inward located part (4) of the sheet metal is axially deep-drawn from a plane (5) of the metal. A taper roller bearing ring (1) is shaped from an axially deep-drawn area (6) of the metal by forming the deep-drawn area of the metal. The largely completed bearing ring is separated from the non axial deep-drawn area of the metal.
