PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately conduct audience rating survey or charging. SOLUTION: A bit stream signal relating to a channel-selected broadcasting signal is outputted from a tuner 30 and supplied to a demultiplexing unit 206. In the demultiplexing unit 206, a packet of a predetermined slot is demultiplexed from the bit stream signal, and packet data and a packet header are demultiplexed from the packet. Packet data constituting the packet of the predetermined slot demultiplexed by the demultiplexing unit 206 are sequentially supplied to a decoding unit 207 to perform decoding processing thereon, thereby obtaining a video signal SV and an audio signal SA. In information contained in the packet header constituting the packet of the predetermined slot demultiplexed by the demultiplexing unit 206, program identification information is temporarily stored in a memory 211. When program identification information is requested from a broadcasting station or a rating survey company via a MODEM 212, the program identification information stored in the memory 211 is transmitted to the broadcasting station or rating survey company via the MODEM 212.
