摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit by which a relatively thin display can be designed, capable of obtaining an illumination light of relatively high brightness with smaller number of light sources comparing with conventional products. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit 10 to be mounted on a color liquid crystal display device of field sequential method comprises housings 11 having a pair of partition walls 11b of which faces made to face each other are made to function as light reflection faces, and an oblong rectangular opening part 13 formed between the pair of partition walls 11b; at least three pieces of LEDs 15 mounted on at least one end part of the housing 11, emitting red, blue, and green light toward the other end part of the housing 11; reflectors 16, 17 having reflection faces reflecting the light emitted from the LEDs 15 mounted on the housing toward the opening part 13 of the housing 11; and a frame 12 for holding a plurality of housings 11 in arrayed state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
