<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autofocus technique capable of determining the degree of defocus on the basis of one captured image and simpler calculation so that the shutter delay time is extremely reduced. <P>SOLUTION: A filter with multiple apertures for use in an autofocus system of a camera includes one opaque part for blocking a light and the apertures through which the light travels. In another example, each of the apertures includes a color filter corresponding to a different color. In yet another example, an opaque part for blocking the light is provided, which includes asymmetrical shape apertures through which the light travels. The defocus determination is performed on the basis of the filtered light, and the adjustment for the distance between the optical system and an image sensing device is determined on the basis of the determined defocus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
