AIRBAG DEVICE FOR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device for a front passenger seat capable of protecting the occupant effectively irrespective of the size of the physique of the occupant seated on the front passenger seat.

SOLUTION: The airbag device 22 for the front passenger seat is equipped with a first airbag 30 and a second airbag 33 deploying and inflating ahead of the occupant P seated on the front passenger seat 23 and with a control part 34 and a weight sensor 25 to judge the size of the physique of the occupant P. The first airbag 30 deploys and inflates in the position mating with the part of an occupant P having a large physique ranging from his head to breast, while the second airbag 33 is positioned mating with the legs of the occupant P having a large physique and deploys and inflates in the position mating with the breast of an occupant P having a small physique. The two air bags 30 and 33 are deployed and inflated selectively in accordance with the size of the physique of the occupant P.
