PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electronic equipment and its control method capable of realizing power conservation. SOLUTION: A switch 11 on a video camera 1 is depressed for the corresponding processing. When this processing is for loading/unloading a tape cassette or for fast forward/rewind, a control is carried out to decreases the power consumed in the panel 12 or in the viewfinder 13. Although the luminance decreases on the panel 12 or in the viewfinder 13 by reducing the power consumption, the panel 12 and the viewfinder 13 are not used during the predetermined processing such as tape loading.
