PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk apparatus and its control method in which time for communication between them is not affected and deceleration of a rotation drive means can be performed even at deceleration of the rotation drive means requiring long time due to operation by limited quantity of current. SOLUTION: This invention is a control method of an optical disk for solving the above problem and having the rotation drive means such as a spindle motor 3, the method is characterized in that the rotation drive means such as the spindle motor 3 is decelerate to the prescribed number of rotation by brake operation (S4) of a plurality of number of times.
