PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable storage device for largely improving cable laying workability, by surely preventing idle rotation of a cable drum in a box body. SOLUTION: This cable storage device has a drum 14 composed of a body part 20 for winding a cable and a collar part 22 on its both sides, and the box body 16 for rotatably storing the drum 14 and having an opening-closing cover 28 on an upper surface. The box body 16 is provided with a cable extracting hole 32 for inserting the cable extracted from the drum 14. A cutout part is arranged on the outer edge of the collar part 22 of the drum 14, and a fixing member 40 locked on the cutout part is arranged in the box body 16. A projection locked on the cutout part 26 is used for the opening-closing cover of the box body as the fixing member 40. For example, a projection formed by cutting and bending a part of the opening-closing cover 28 of the box body 16 or a projection using a knob 84 of a handle 82 reversibly connected to a shaft body 24 of the drum 14, is used.
