The pump has radially movable vanes (4) arranged in a rotor (1) and including external sealing edges (4a) sliding at a lift curve of a stator (2). The vanes are loaded in a radial direction by leaf springs (6), where spring forces exerted by the leaf springs act radially inward in a direction of a rotation axis of the rotor. The springs are supported at the rotor and arranged within an area of radially arranged slots. An independent claim is also included for a application of a vane pump for supplying viscous medium e.g. cooling oil or lubricating oil to a transmission e.g. automatic transmission, of a motor vehicle.
