EXPOSURE HEAD CONTROLLING METHOD AND PRINTER USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling an exposure head using an inexpensive LED head, and a high image quality printer.

SOLUTION: Respective light emitting elements of a plurality of light emitting arrays 21 and 22 constituting the exposure head 311 are mutually staggered in the main scanning direction (a direction parallel to a rotational axis of a photoreceptor drum 312), and the light emitting arrays 21 and 22 are mutually staggered at a predetermined interval in the sub-scanning direction (a rotational direction of the photoreceptor drum 312). Light emitting timings of the respective light emitting arrays are controlled by a controlling signal from the outside of the exposure head 311. The light emission driving interval of time of the light emitting arrays 21 and 22 is determined in synchronization with a carrying speed v of an exposure medium (a peripheral speed of the photoreceptor drum 312), and image data is thereby printed with an increased pixel density in the main scanning direction through the synchronization. High image quality in the sub-scanning direction is provided by increasing light emitting frequency.
