PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly inform the user of a problem that occurs in accordance with a projection distance and the tilt angle of a screen, regarding a projector where trapezoidal distortion is corrected in accordance with the relative tilt angle of the screen to the projector. SOLUTION: Regarding the projector for projecting a display panel on the screen through a projection optical system, and also, having a function of correcting the trapezoidal distortion generated due to the relative tilt of the screen to the projection optical system, a warning that a projected image is outside a projection depth is given when the projection distance difference in the image projected on the screen is beyond the extent of the projection depth.
