PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crawler stretch adjusting device, effectively restraining galling in the sliding contact surface between a piston rod and a cylinder body in simplified constitution. SOLUTION: This crawler stretch adjusting device includes: a single-acting cylinder having an idling wheel 9 pressed to the inner peripheral surface of the crawler 14 of a crawler type traveling apparatus 20 to adjust the tension state, a cylinder body 2, a piston rod 1 mounted in the sliding contact state in the cylinder body 2 to regulate the movement of the idling wheel 9 in the pressure contact direction according to the projecting amount, and a working medium charged in the interior of the cylinder body 2 to adjust the projecting amount of the piston rod 1 and lubricate the sliding contact surface between the piston rod 1 and the cylinder body 2; and a recoil spring 8 for cushioning load transmitted from the crawler 14 to the idling wheel 9, wherein a layer having a non-metallic property for restraining contact abrasion is formed on the sliding contact surface of the piston rod 1 and the cylinder body 2.
