PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce effects of a flow of the air between a printer head and a medium to be recorded, without increasing the length of a casing in a carriage movement direction. SOLUTION: A pair of skirt members 1A and 1B are set at both sides in the carriage movement direction of a carriage. The skirt members 1A and 1B can selectively take a first state P1 in which the skirt members extend a nozzle face of a recording head 103B in the carriage movement direction, and a second state P2 in which the skirt member follows an outer side face of the carriage 103A. The skirt members 1A and 1B are changed from the first state P1 to the second state P2 when front ends of the skirt members 1A and 1B are in contact with inner side faces 102a and 102b of a body casing 102 near an end of a movable range of the carriage 103A. In a state in which the skirt members 1A and 1B are not in contact with the inner side faces 102a and 102b, each skirt member is elastically supported by an elastic supporting member to maintain the first state P1.
