<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a surface mounter in which a load being applied to a component can be made lower than the weight of a movable portion when buffering action is exhibited at the lower end position of a head at the time of mounting a component, the load can be regulated effectively, and the structure for regulating the load can be held easily. <P>SOLUTION: The surface mounter comprises a movable section including a nozzle 31 and a member for holding it and fixed movably in the vertical direction by a predetermined amount relatively to a nozzle shaft 21, a pressure chamber 70 arranged between the nozzle shaft 21 and the movable section and regulating a pressing force being applied to the movable section, and a means 80 for supplying a pressure to the pressure chamber 70.
