PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device and its driving method that can improve light emission efficiency. SOLUTION: The plasma display device and its driving method are characterized in that: a circuit of a driving portion is so configured to selectively apply the output voltage of a 3rd electrode driving portion 300 to a 1st electrode driving portion 500; for a discharge cell selected by being applied with an address voltage Va from the 3rd electrode driving portion in an address period, the voltage of a 1st electrode Y is (a) raised to (a) a 1st voltage, (b) raised to a sustain discharge pulse voltage Vs by applying the output voltage of the 3rd electrode driving portion raised to the address voltage Va, (c) held at the sustain discharge pulse voltage, (d) lowered to the 1st voltage by applying the output voltage of the 3rd electrode driving portion lowered to a 3rd voltage lower than the address voltage, and (e) lowered to a 2nd voltage lower than the 1st voltage during a sustain period; and the output voltage of the 3rd electrode driving portion is applied to a 3rd electrode A in the periods (b), (c), and (d) to cause discharge.
