A lamp, a headlight, and a method of manufacturing a lamp are described. The fixation of a burner 12 in a lamp base 14 is preceded by an alignment in conventional motor vehicle lamps, such that a burner element L will occupy an exactly defined position. In order to obtain an exact alignment in a lamp of simplified construction, it is suggested that the lamp base comprises position reference elements 22a, 22b, 22c at which contact surfaces are formed by bulk removal or plastic deformation such that they occupy a given position with respect to the burner element L.
