摘要 A dihydroperoxide is produced in the form of its solution in aqueous alkali by oxidizing a dialkyl aromatic hydrocarbon of the general formula <FORM:0982515/C2/1> in which Ar is an arylene group and R1, R2, R3 and R4 are alkyl groups with molecular oxygen and with addition of alkali, subjecting the oxidate to treatment for the removal of alkali metal salts contained therein until the oxidate contains salts in an amount less than the equivalent of 0.1 gram of alkali metal per kilogram of oxidate, extracting the treated oxidate with aqueous alkali solution to recover the dihydroperoxide, separating the resulting aqueous phase containing the dihydroperoxide from the organic phase, and recycling the organic phase to the oxidation. The preferred starting material is m-diisopropylbenzene. The oxidation may be effected with air, at a pH within the range of 3 to 7. The removal of alkali metal salt from the oxidate may be carried out by mechanical separation, such as filtration or in a centrifuge, or by washing with water. The mechanical separation may be combined with a water wash. After removal of the salts, the oxidate is contacted with an aqueous solution of an alkali, preferably containing from 1% to 12% of alkali, e.g. sodium hydroxide, to extract the dihydroperoxide. The aqueous phase may be separated from the organic phase using a centrifuge and the organic phase is recycled to the oxidation reactor. A detailed example is given.
