<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sugar derivative which is suitable for synthesizing various complex oligosaccharide chains having branched off or different in bond positions. <P>SOLUTION: The sugar derivative has a protective group which is at an anomer position, stable under glycosylation conditions, and optionally and independently removable in order to form a glycosidic linkage at an objective position.
