<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the constitution of a lubricating device in the arrangement where a predetermined quantity of lubricating oil is supplied to an internal-combustion engine by preventing the air from suddenly sucked into an oil pump when the oil pump is sucking in the lubricating oil from an oil pan through an oil pipe. <P>SOLUTION: The lubricating device 39 of an outboard motor 6 is equipped with the internal-combustion engine 12 supported at the top of a case 10 supported by the hull, the oil pan 29 formed in the case 10 for storing the lubricating oil 28, the oil pipe 47 with one end 44 left opening at the inside bottom part of the oil pan 29 and the other end 45 extending toward the engine 12, and the oil pump 49 driven so as to supply the oil 28 to the engine 12 through the oil pipe 47. The oil pump 49 is installed near the front of the oil pan 29, viewed on the plan.
