PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer amount detecting means capable of precisely detecting the amount of a developer at low cost when there are a plurality of developer containers whose developer amounts should be detected. SOLUTION: A developer amount detecting device 110 which detects the amounts of developers in the plurality of developer storage containers 31 and 41 containing the developers includes at least a detection signal generation section 104 for detecting the amounts of developers, detection signal input sections PA1, PA3, PA5, PA7, and PA9, detection signal output sections PA2, PA4, PA6, and PA8, an input position changing means B, and a detection signal detection section 113; and the detection signal output sections PA2, PA4, PA6, and PA8 are disposed among the different detection signal input sections PA1, PA3, PA5, PA7, and PA9, and the input position changing means B changes the detection signal input sections PA1, PA3, PA5, PA7, and PA9 to measure the amounts of developers in the different developer storage containers 31 and 41.
