PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw type conveying device, an operation control method therefor and an operation control method of a screw type delivery device for a moving hearth furnace capable of preventing abrasion of a screw blade and deterioration of conveyance efficiency without requiring excess power. SOLUTION: In the operation control method for the screw type conveying device provided with a casing 1 having a space wherein a screw 2 can be raised on an upper part and supporting a conveyed article A on a bottom part, and the screw 2 arranged adjacent to the bottom part of the casing 1 and moving the conveyed article A to a screw shaft 2a by rotating the screw blade 2b provided on the screw shaft 2a, torque T of a motor 3 rotating and driving the screw shaft 2a is measured, and a space between a tip of the screw blade 2b and the bottom part of the casing 1 is controlled to be enlarged by raising the screw shaft 2a when the torque T reaches a torque upper limit value Tmax set in advance.
