PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medicine for effectively treating neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or nervous dysfunction associated with cerebral infarction. SOLUTION: A method for administering (2R)-2-propyloctanoic acid, a salt thereof, a solvate thereof or a prodrug thereof in combination with other drugs is provided. The method for combined use disclosed herein is extremely effective for prophylaxis, therapy and/or supplementation and/or enhancement of symptom progression inhibitory effects, improvement in drug kinetics and absorption or reduction in dose and adverse effects of the drug or prevention, etc., of development of drug resistance as compared with the case of single use thereof during the prophylaxis, therapy and/or symptom progression inhibition of various neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease or nervous dysfunction associated with the cerebral infarction.
