PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forklift capable of reducing a charging frequency of a battery, by reducing electric power consumption of a pallet lock device. SOLUTION: This forklift has the pallet lock device for fixing an inserted pallet to a fork. The pallet lock device is provided with an operation state detecting means 26 for detecting an operation state of a car body, and an output control part 252 for varying force for fixing the pallet to the fork in response to the operation state detected by the operation state detecting means 26. Thus, the electric power consumption of the pallet lock device is reduced when the pallet hardly slides to the fork, and the charging frequency of the battery can be reduced.
