PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To register a new font without creating a special program and incorporating the program in the control section of an image forming system, utilizing software resources which are normally incorporated in the image forming system. SOLUTION: In the image forming system, the control command of a page description language having a control function relative to the image forming system is used to control an image reading means (scanner 5, scanner processing part 6, font processing part 3) to read character patterns.
