PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unitary lock mechanism for positively holding a rod into a groove of a head of a pedicle screw, to provide a lock mechanism reducing the number of required members for use during a predetermined surgical operation because of including only one element, and to provide a locking means eliminating components of small size with a danger of delaying operation during the surgical operation and making an arrangement error. SOLUTION: A unitary locking cap for locking the rod into a rod receiving groove specified between a pair of upward extending members of an orthopaedic implant device, is provided with a cylindrical body having inner surfaces, outer surfaces, and sidewalls having open first end parts and second end parts; a post member arrangeable between the inner surfaces; a means for holding the post member coaxially and rotatably in the cylindrical body; and corresponding threads engaged with the threads of the upward extending members.
