PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion generator whose maintenance is easy, by which the generation effect of ion is excellent, the generation of ozone is avoided, safety is enhanced, and the malfunction of a game machine is prevented. SOLUTION: The ion generator has a booster circuit 4 supplied with an alternative power and generating a high voltage, a voltage transformer circuit 5 supplied with the alternative power of the high voltage from the booster circuit 4 and transforming the alternate power to a direct power, a resistor 6 to which the direct current is applied from the voltage transformer circuit 5 and playing the role of a resistor, a carbon wire 38 to which the voltage is applied through the resistor 6 and formed of a carbon fiber connected to the resistor 6 or an ion generating section 8 having a wire material formed of a carbon fiber connected to the other end of the electroconductive wire whose one end is connected to the resistor 6.
