<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost and surely avoid short-time clogging by eliminating the need for forcible heating means including an electric heater and a fuel additive device. SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device having a catalyst regenerative particulate filter 6 mounted on the downstream side of a flexible tube 12 on the midway of an exhaust pipe 4, where exhaust gas 3 from a diesel engine 1 (an internal combustion engine) is distributed, comprises an opening adjustable exhaust brake 10 provided in the exhaust pipe 4 on the upstream side of the flexible tube 12 and an outlet throttle valve 13 provided right after the particulate filter 6. The outlet throttle valve 13 is formed to throttle an exhaust passage in the range of light load operation during normal operation and to throttle it stepwise in cooperation with the exhaust brake 10 an operating the exhaust brake 10.</p> |
