<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a poly-para-phenylene pyromellitimide film well-balanced in surface mechanical properties and having a high Young's modulus of elasticity. <P>SOLUTION: The method comprises at least uniaxially orienting a gel-like film obtained from a solution mainly consisting of a polyamic acid, an organic amine compound, and a dehydratively condensing agent, drying the film under restrain until the solvent remaining in the film is decreased to 10% or lower based on the weight of the polymer, and heat-treating the resultant film without restrain. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
