<p>A shield 1 for attachment to a receptacle 12 with a piercable membrane, the shield 1 having a circular orifice 3 for attachment to the receptacle 12 and an appropriate size and shape to protect the users hands whilst withdrawing liquid medicament. Preferably the shield 1 is circular and made of plastic with smooth upper and lower surfaces. The shield 1 may have a raised edge 5 and a central hole with sloping sides 4. Serrated teeth 9 with hooked ends 10may be provided to facilitate attachment to the receptacle. The shield 1 may protect a user's hands whilst withdrawing medicament from a vial 12 of varying sizes using a syringe. The sloping sides 4 of the central hole may guide the needle towards the piercable membrane 13 and the raised edge 5 of the shield may prevent the needle sliding off the edge.</p> |
