1,202,338. Cleaning tanks. BUTTERWORTH SYSTEM Inc. 28 Nov., 1968 [5 Dec., 1967], No. 56576/68. Heading A4F. [Also in Division B8] A device for hauling hoses, particularly intended for raising and lowering pressure hoses for cleaning oil tanks, comprises two circular discs 12, 13 having opposed peripheral grooves 75 and mounted on a mobile frame at between 15 and 25 degrees to each other, such that they almost touch at one circumferential point, this being the point at which the discs grip the hose and haul it when the discs are driven rotatably. The shaft 11 of one of the discs is driven either by hand or power and interengaging teeth 18 on the two discs cause the other disc to be driven. The frame on which the device is mounted comprises wheels at one end and screwed feet at the other end, a swivelling screwed hook depending from the frame being used to grip a part of the tank to be cleaned and the screwed feet being adjusted to lock the frame in position by reacting against the hook grip. A roller facilitates guiding of the hose into position between the discs and a further guide roller may be provided where the hose leaves the discs. |
