An additive for communication cable filler, comprises as its main component a polyolefin wax defined by: (i) being an ethylene homopolymer or an ethylene/C 3 -C 10 ±-olefin copolymer; (ii) having a number average molecular weight (Mn), meaured by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), of 400 to 5000; and (iii) upon the addition of the additive for communication cable filler to a jellylike filling material so as to form a communication cable filler, exhibiting a storage modulus (G') of communication cable filler at 80°C ranging from 1 × 10 3 Pa to 1 × 10 4 Pa and a loss modulus (G'') at 120°C or below of 1 × 10 1 Pa or below. Further, a communication cable filler comprises at least the above additive for communication cable filler and jellylike filling material. The provided additive for communication cable filler and communication cable filler simultaneously realize satisfactory communication cable filler filling workability and strength.
