There is provided an information recording/reproducing device capable of utilizing a control signal recorded together with a video/audio signal on an analog recording medium, thereby dubbing the video/audio signal onto a digital recording medium in the possible shortest time. The information recording/reproducing device includes: a control signal detection unit for detecting a control signal recorded on an analog recording medium; a control unit; and the like. When the control unit receives a dubbing instruction, it starts dubbing operation by causing a recording unit to record the video/audio signal reproduced by a reproducing unit, onto a digital recording medium. During the dubbing operation, if a non-recording area having no control signal is detected on the analog recording medium, the recording unit is instructed to temporarily stop the recording onto the digital recording medium.
