A membrane/electrode assembly for solid polymer fuel cells is disclosed wherein a fluorinated sulfonic acid polymer having a monomer unit represented by the following general formula (3):
(3) (wherein, Rf 1 represents a divalent perfluorohydrocarbon group having 4-10 carbon atoms) is used for at least one of the membrane and the catalyst binder. The fluorinated sulfonic acid polymer has a melt flow rate (MFR) of not more than 100 g/10 min at 270°C when the -SO 3 H group in the polymer is changed into -SO 2 F.
