Carbon-free cobalt-based alloy (A) for use in dental prostheses comprises, by weight, 30-34% chromium; 4-7% molybdenum; 1-1.5% silicon; 0.1-0.3% nitrogen; 0.3-0.5% niobium; 0.2-0.6% manganese; 0.1-0.8% tungsten and the remainder cobalt.
