Fermentation equipment for processing biologically degradable organic material involves anaerobic fermentation. Four fermentation units (1-4) are involved each with a quadrilateral cross-section arranged one against the other and together forming a quadrilateral periphery. Each fermentation unit has four upright side walls (5) so that an inverted pyramidal base (6) is formed.
