Disclosed are novel compounds of the formula: (See formula IV) wherein R is hydrogen or a substituent and N=B is amino or the like, that are useful as intermediates for producing 2- and 3-aminomethyl-6-arylcarbonyl-2,3-dihydropyrrolo[1,2,3- de]-1,4-benzoxazines that are useful analgesic agents.
