When an image signal (DVb) of a variable- frame-rate picked-up image produced by an image signal producing part (10) has been recorded in a signal recording/reproducing part (30) and if an instruction of reproducing this signal is given, then the recorded signal is reproduced and supplied, as an image signal (DVr), to a frame rate converting part (21). The frame rate converting part (21) converts the frame rates of the image signals (DVb, DVr) to a display frame rate and supplies them, as image signals (DVb', DVr') to a monitor image signal producing part (41). The monitor image signal producing part (41) produces monitor image signals for displaying images, which are based on the image signals (DVb', DVr'), in a single screen. The frame rate can be adjusted with reference to the displayed reproduced image together with the image being picked up. As a result, the image signal can be easily produced so that the motion of a subject, when reproduced, will exhibit a desired speed. |
