The method involves identifying characteristics of fingerprint fragments and determining if the fingerprint fragments correspond to a same fingerprint, from the identified characteristics, by searching identical characteristics in the fragments. A corresponding fragment group is formed and characteristics of the group are compared with individual image characteristics that are contained in a database.
