<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To process merchandise sales data with data read from a radio tag by using an existing program for processing merchandise sales data on the basis of bar code data. <P>SOLUTION: A scanner 3 reads a merchandise bar code 2. A radio tag reader 5 reads data from a radio tag 4 attached to merchandise. A data converting function 282 converts data read from the radio tag 4 by the radio tag reader 5 into data having the code system of a merchandise bar code by using a conversion table 292.
