PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical OFDM communication apparatus through the provision of a means for concretely executing two technical tasks comprising (1) providing a means for acquiring radio wave propagation environment information and (2) informing an opposite station about selected ACS channel information. SOLUTION: A modulation system discrimination unit 13 discriminates whether a modulation system for each frequency is BPSK modulation or QPSK modulation and stores a discrimination result to an ACS memory 16. A demodulator 14 carries out demodulation according to the discriminated modulation system to provide an output of HR (hard real time) information or SR (soft real time) information. A decoder 36 decodes the HR information as it is while the decoder 36 decodes the SR information after de-interleaving the SR information. A channel estimate unit 15 selects a channel whose carrier amplitude is high for the ACS channel, and a modulator 18 assigns un-interleaved transmission HR information to the ACS channel to carry out the BPSK modulation and assigns the interleaved SR information to a non-ACS channel to carry out the QPSK modulation.
