PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighter for a toy firework that can be used normally even when a wind blows and can be manufactured inexpensively. SOLUTION: The lighter for a toy firework has a cord 1 impregnated with an oxidizer. The cord 1 impregnated with the oxidizer is telescopically disposed in a central bore 5 of a tube 3, and one end 1a of the cord is provided with an operating rod 7 normally projected from the central bore, so that the operating rod can be moved longitudinally in the tube to move the other end 1b of the cord into and out of the tube.
