PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simplified single rod ladder convenient to carry, easily usable when going over level difference during movement in fishing or working and usable also as a handle of a tool or the like. SOLUTION: A vertical rod which is the handle of the tool is provided with openings for enclosing a tread spaced to easily go up and down as a ladder, and the treads are retractably fitted to the openings through supporting shafts. The vertical rod is covered with an outer cover provided with openings allowing the treads to put in and out, and a retractable fixed rung is fitted to the lower end through a supporting shaft to provide the simplified single rod ladder usable as the handle of the tool.
